Ties and Tassels

Originally, I thought the whole lace-up top thing was all a bit '00s Britney, but then, somewhat predictably, the courage of this conviction faded, to be replaced by the inevitable conclusion that I needed one in my life. Right now.

This £10 cross 'n' drape-front Primark beaut beat every other I'd seen on the high street hands down... and what isn't improved by a bit of mustard? Blouses, cruciferous vegetables...

Add in a bit of double - or should that be triple - tassel action and the perfect snakeskin sock boots - finally unearthed for under £50 - for one happy blogging bunny.

Check Mate: Collectif's Big Camden Party

This week, my favourite vintage repro brand, Collectif, kindly offered to dress and style me for their Big Camden Party as part of their 100 Dresses event... Well, it would have been rude to say no, no? On the Run...

Part (extremely) belated Halloween #OOTD, part simple documentation of the fact that I ran 10km, outside, in the dark, following a decade and a half during which my involvement in such activities extended no further than that necessitated by a sprint between Detonator and Stealth at Thorpe Park ride closing time. Began part Little Red Riding Hood, part Dalek (c/o my fetching new head torch); ended part jelly, part John Wayne. But, you know, if I was going to drunkenly agree to a cross-country night run through the woods, at least I drunkenly agreed to a cross-country night run through the woods in which the wearing of a midi skirt and frilly ankle socks was acceptable.

Shedding a mascara tear of disbelief at finishing in the top 60%...

Life in Lurex

Had enough of a break from the flared co-ord sets? Good, then let's crack on... I'd had my eye on this lovely lurex tunic/trouser combo since spotting it in the Daily at London Fashion Week during one of my Vita Coco Latte-fuelled between-shows phone-charging sessions in the Brewer Street press lounge, only to find the last remaining set on H&M's Oxford Circus shop floor already ravaged by thread pulls... A few weeks later, birthday spending money burning a hole in my pocket, I decided to throw caution to the wind and order it anyway. At the end of day one, I did have to spend a good 15 minutes carefully pushing and pulling all the newly loose threads around the hems into some semblance of order, in order to render myself presentable for a second day, but I'd still challenge you to find a better day-to-night ensemble on the high street right now...
