The New Gypsy
My early teen summers were spent happily surfing the waves of late nineties/early noughties boho (back when the term "gypsy style" conjured up images of quaint folk-style embroidery and delicate gathered ruffles, rather than 16-tier fairylit loo-roll-covers) so it was with delighted nostalgia that I greeted this season's resurrection of the gypsy top, with its ingenious clean-cut off-the-shoulder uber-frill. Sheer floaty fabric makes this Boohoo version feel even more romantic and dance-around-the-campfire-y (an activity I wouldn't necessarily endorse in a skirt like this, though).

Aloha! The Hawaiian Bomber
Being yet to tick Hawaiian off my SS14 must-buy-prints list, I was drawn like a magnet to this little number hanging in Primark... and, since it came in the form of the perfect transitional cover-up, it was snapped up on the spot. Lightweight, but the perfect partner in the fight against late summer chills and showers, and gorgeous clashed with other monochrome or floral prints (or both at once!), or teamed with disco jeans for a funky fifties feel - what's not to love?
Have you given Hawaiian a whirl?

3 Ways to Wear Short Dungarees
Last year, I couldn't be prised out of my full-length overalls, but this year I've been all about dungaree shortcuts... I was instantly drawn to the offbeat '90s vibe of this slouchy acid-wash Primark pair... so much more fun than just plain old shorts, somehow!

The Blanket Cape
Burberry having officially made the public wearing of blankets not just socially acceptable, but entirely cutting-edge, I was hopping with excitement on spying this soft and snuggly version in Primark... just the thing for keeping the chill at bay on Summer evenings now, and easing us into the transition to Autumn later on (booo)... While the heat is still (just about) on, it's the perfect partner for playsuits, and I couldn't resist teaming it up with this one once I realised how perfectly its cut-outs would echo the cape's Aztec-style graphic print!

Will you be recycling your picnic rug this year?
