The Lady and the Vamp: Two Ways to Wear the Frilled Blouse

If you've been here before, you'll know there are a few things which, try as I might, I just can't resist:

1. A trend.
2. A challenge.
3. The impulse to wring at least two hundred looks out of every buy.

Ergo, three more things I couldn't resist:

1. This blouse (frilled yoke plus piecrust collar minus stuffy sleeves and schoolma'am vibes equals the perfect summer style equation).
2. The challenge to style a look around it in honour of H&M's collaboration with Man Repeller's Leandra Medine and Bloglovin' (for the chance to win one of the most exciting prize packages known to man, woman or child).
3. The impulse to repeat the above. Because out or in? Paired with pleats 'n' pastels or pleather 'n' a faux hawk? Backless loafers or boxfresh kicks? Who can pick? And because my love of fashion is all about the endless possibilities it presents - it's never so much "what goes with this?" as "who do I want to be today?". This shirt's frilly feminine wiles chime perfectly with the calf-skimming midis I've long held a special place in my heart on my hanging rail for. But even with skirt length sorted, the big question: to embrace or subvert those ladylike charms? still remains. And, frankly, that's not a choice I'm prepared to make. Ever. Having a secret identical twin and/or a little human cloning know-how (shhh) helps. Or at least some rudimentary Photoshop skills.

5 Style Hacks I'm Stealing from London Fashion Week (And a Couple I'm Not)

London Fashion Week is renowned for styling sleights whose recreation outside the rarefied confines of Brewer Street NCP would see their proponents running the risk of a lifetime Tesco ban. But it's also an inexhaustible source of inspiration for those of us who fancy a little wardrobe shake-up... And nothing need stop you receiving your Ocado delivery in glittery pyjamas, eh?

Here are my Fashion Week-inspired resolutions for 2016...

1. Discover New Layers

Skirts over trousers: Yawn. Skirts over... skirts? I'm listening. Skirts over suits? *Yelps with excitement*

2. Try the New High/Low

Sports/luxe: done (over and over and over and...) But prim/prairie, demure/disco and sports/vamp, on the other hand...

3. Ruffle Some Feathers

Or, at the very least, some neck and hemlines.

4. Pop Some (Statement) Collar...

After 400 years in the fashion wilderness, could 2016 see the return of the ruff? Roksanda (incredibly) put forward a pretty convincing case... But, whilst I muster the requisite courage (and wait for Zara to rustle up a copy), I'll be following Burberry's failsafe formula: fun fur + parka + peppy prints + preppy accessories = trans-seasonal style perfection.

5. Jazz Up My Hosiery

And once I've finished rifling through the darkest recesses of my sock drawers in search of those Burberry-alike textured tights, I solemnly swear to finally try out the socks-and-sandals thing... Before investing in some new-style pom pom-adorned accessories (because, come next season, a bag charm just isn't going to cut it) and (*squeal*) some glittery tights. The '80s party dressing trend is going to be the best Crimbo gift an adult woman ever received.

And 4 I Won't Be Trying At Home...

1. '80s power suiting? YES. Contouring using tights? No.
2. Glittery pyjamas? Yes (please). Hair of Marge Simpson and Krusty the Clown's lovechild? No.
3. Bag-for-life-based millinery? Call me old school, but I think I'll be sticking to umbrellas for the time being.
4. Skirts-over-skirts? Intrigued. Skirts-over-trackies-over-socks-under-slippers? Baffled.

Style Steal: Rosie Fortescue

I first saw this ensemble back in March, over on Rosie's blog, At Fashion Forte, falling in lust at first sight with her knockout new take on sports luxe - instant bookmark material! I deliberated a while over investing in her silken snake print lovelies, but ended up plumping for this paisley pair from Boohoo instead - at £10, it seemed rude not to! Then... today... what should I see gazing at me from behind the glass of an anonymous shop window but this roll-necked side-split slice of serendipitous scrumptiousness... £8? Don't mind if I do... (Now, I've had a little hunt around and couldn't dig up an online stockist for you, but Rosie's cowl-neck AX Paris version is still available for a really-quite-reasonable £18). I am going to have sooo much fun experimenting with this (A midi top? My mind is boggling), but, for starters, an homage to my inspiration was in order...

Shine On... The Sequinned Jogger

Lack of light, fear of frostbite and a remorseless rehearsal schedule have conspired to keep me away from my trusty brick wall for far too long... But now the sun is shining past 4pm, the mercury is nudging 8 degrees, and I have an unexpected night off from operating imaginary machinery/stealing imaginary meatballs/drinking imaginary brandy, so here I am...

This New Year, I was lucky enough to win a £50 F&F voucher in their #WinterBling Instagram competition (with 2013's Christmas Day OOTD) so, true to form, I decided to re-invest my winnings in some more blingtastic goodies... Starting with these sequinned joggers - being able to wear sequins all day, any day, all year round? Irresistible.

Going Off-Track: How to Wear Running Shoes

Yes ladies, it has officially been proclaimed the season of the flat... on one hand, my poor heel-abused feet are rejoicing, but on the other, I've been scratching my head as to how to fit the latest "fashion flat" styles into my wardrobe... I've been a wedge high-top wearer since the beginning, and my glittery lovelies eventually pulled me on board the Converse-style pump train, but, thanks to Chanel and New Balance, statement running shoe-style trainers seem to be where it's at for AW14...

Never to be deterred by a clothing conundrum, I picked up this neon-piped pair from Primark and set out to experiment... According to the catwalks and Pinterest, literally anything goes, but I found that ensembles combining girly and sporty elements with pops of bright colour worked best for me...

Where to start? It had to be with a Cara D-inspired suit/kicks combo...
