M&S Faux Leather Wrap Skirt (The £35 Dupe!)

Yep, M&S has done it again - not only produced 'the skirt of the season' in this leather wrap midi, but thoughtfully dished up an (even more) affordable dupe in the near-identical shape of this faux leather one... Last year's faux suede beaut is still on heavy rotation and I have a feeling this one is going to be a firm fixture in my wardrobe for some time to come too... I can't wait to try it out with a crisp white shirt, '70s style blouse, grey marl tee and trainers... aargh, the possibilities are just too much!

Earning My Stripes

You won't need to scroll far to discover I've always had a soft spot for a stripe - hence the purchase of this blazer, back in the mists of time when dinosaurs still roamed the earth and I still had hair down to my hips - with which I did dreadfully silly things, like attempt to tie it in a bow (scroll down - actually, please don't).

The beehive (along with the mercifully short-lived bow 'do) may be history, a baby faux hawk risen like a phoenix from the ashes, but the blazer lives on. SO... imagine my excitement on finding matching trousers on a recent trip to Primark. Seriously, like someone suddenly woke up and realised they'd forgotten to make them 3 years ago - better late than never, hey? (There is a new-style blazer too, btw, if you didn't happen to pick this one up six seasons ago!)

What to wear with a stripy suit? Well duh, more stripes, obbbvs!

Nautical But Nice: 2 Ways to Wear a Striped Blouse

Thanks to global warming, the appearance of blue-and-white striped tops in the shops is now a more reliable sign of the imminence of spring than the blooming of the first daffodil. This year's crop looks a little different though - we're seeing less of the classic Breton, and a lot more of the tailoring, draping and ruffling...

I wasn't too sure at first - part-office pinstripe, part-deckchair upholstery? But you know me - I may knock something, but I'll always (eventually) try it. And, quelle surprise, it's already become my favourite spring staple.

Look One

White pencil skirt = the no-brainer "dress-it-up" option, but lace skater flats (a.k.a the latest contender for best summer shoe idea ever) give the look a casual (and comfortable!) vibe.

Look Two

Blue and white stripes + tan? Not a combination I'd have thought to put together if I hadn't been inspired by a shrewd street styler, but something about it just seems to work!
